Excitement is buzzing in the world of cryptocurrencies as a trader managed to turn a modest $1,000 investment into an impressive $100,000 windfall. What’s even more surprising is that this success story revolves around a token named Dogwifhat (WIF), featuring a dog sporting a beanie as its mascot.

The trader, known as Blockgraze in the crypto community, shared with CoinDesk that he entered the world of Dogwifhat in late November, just after it made its debut on the DeFi markets of the Solana blockchain. When asked about the reason behind choosing this particular token, Blockgraze explained, “I thought the dog with the hat was very funny, and so I bought some.” He went on to reveal that he has already made $25,000 in profits, letting the remaining earnings stay in his wallet.

Investing in memecoins, especially those associated with memes featuring the shiba inu dog breed, can be like a rollercoaster. While it’s relatively easy for anyone to create a cryptocurrency and hope it gains value, meme-related tokens often experience significant value surges and, in some cases, can sustain their popularity.

Solana’s previous top memecoin, BONK, serves as an example. Launched in an airdrop last Christmas, it initially gained momentum, then subsided, only to start climbing again in October. Recently, it received a listing on Coinbase, demonstrating how these meme-driven investments can turn into serious business opportunities.

However, Blockgraze, who considers himself a part-time crypto trader working with consumer startups, emphasizes that achieving 100x returns on memecoins is more about luck than skill. He likens it to a form of gambling and offers a somewhat unconventional piece of advice: “The secret is to be an idiot, I think. I should have probably sold several times, but the dog had a hat.”
